Malabo ? Member states of the African Unio (AU) will propose to the UN Conference on sustainable development (Rio+20) the creation of a World Environment Organisation during the meeting to take place from 28 May to 6 June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

The establishment of the referred World Environment Organisation, to be based in Nairobi, Kenya, is aimed for the need of Africa to tackle issues related to environmental policies and sustainable development.

This was said to the press on Friday by the Angolan Environment Deputy Minister, Syanga Abílio, on the fringes of the 17th summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).

The official said that the African countries should lay out strategies and adopt common positions for challenges of the green economy and need for the creation of an institutional framework.
