Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. Supporting Rio + 20 through involvement in local decision making in the UK
In the UK Sustainability Links is urging local decision makers to support this year?s UN Summit ? after all, the absence of any top-down direction from Government doesn?t mean that communities have to be excluded from key international processes.

The whole idea of Agenda 21 was to tackle our world?s unsustainability at grassroots level by bringing more local people, with various sustainability concerns, into local decision making.
