Supporting national preparations for Rio+20: New opportunities for SIDS to get involved
The UNCSD Secretariat has partnered with UNDP to elaborate a project proposal to support a limited number of developing countries in their preparations for the Rio 2012 Conference, including through the mobilization of United Nations Country Teams.

The project proposal is posted on the UNCSD website to seek financial support from donor agencies for national preparations. The project will target least developed countries (LDCs) and a few middle and low income countries, and thus there will be opportunities for smaller middle income countries ? including SIDS ? to benefit from this initiative. Resource mobilization efforts are still underway for this project.

The project builds on a multi-stakeholder approach that can be tailored to meet the needs, interests, experiences and level of ambition of individual countries in terms of advocacy, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, reporting and participation.
