ICLEI ThinkPiece
Encouraged by the surprisingly high attention that his first think piece on Global Environmental Governance received in the international policy sphere, ICLEI secretary general Mr. Konrad Otto-Zimmermann couldn't keep himself from putting his observations and ideas concerning the phenomenon of "Non-Governmental Organizations" on paper.

The second think piece, "NGO - the questionable charm of being defined by what you aren't", has recently been released as ICLEI Paper 2011-2, a few days prior to the annual UN DPI conference on NGOs held in Bonn from 3-5 September.

This think piece investigates the use of the term "NGO" and whether it really is applicable to the wide variety of actors that are covered by it today.
