BioRegional Development Group and World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) will co-host a side event at CSD-19 on Tuesday 10th May 2011 during the evening slot (1:15-2:45). Focused on two elements of the program One Planet Living, the event will examine case studies of sustainable consumption and production for food and housing ? so One Planet Food and One Planet Homes.

One Planet Living means living happy, healthy lives within our fair share of the world?s resources, wherever we live in the world, leaving space for wildlife and wilderness. It is based on the ecological and carbon footprints, clean production and ten holistic principles for achieving sustainability.

Dr. Sarala Gopalan?s will speak about how small farmers are integral to sustainable food production and how humane sustainable agriculture contributes to SCP and the Green Economy in the context of poverty eradication and sustainable development in India. She will emphasize the importance of bringing the issue of sustainable food to the forefront of discussions at Rio+20.
