Inter-governmental organizations (IGOs)
IGOs with observer status with the General Assembly or ECOSOC should notify the UN Protocol and Liaison Service through their liaison office in NY or their Headquarters office when requesting accreditation to participate in the Second Intersessional Meeting of Rio+20. A letter signed by an authorizing official from each organization together with the "Registration of Members of Delegations to Temporary Meetings" form with official seal should be addressed to:

Access the list of IGOs and other entities having received invitation to participate as observers in the sessions and work of the General Assembly and ECOSOC.

Please note that formerly accredited IGOs (e.g. CSD or WSSD) will need to reapply for accreditation if interested in participating in the Rio+20 PrepCom and Conference. For the purpose of the Second Intersessional Meeting no accreditation of new IGOs is contemplated.

Major Groups
Pre-registration is done through CSO Net - the Civil Society Network, and is required for all delegates from major groups wishing to attend the session. Go to registration

Only organizations accredited to the UN may send Major Groups delegates to the Intersessional Meeting. Eligible representatives can pre-register through the CSO Net online event registration system.

Note that CSO Net can also be searched to verify your organization?s level of accreditation. Online pre-registrations are handled through a focal point designated within your organization. Contact information for your focal point should be listed in CSO Net.

Upon arrival at UN Headquarters, pre-registered delegates must check in at the Major Groups registration desk located inside the Visitors Lobby. You will be required to present valid photo identification (for example, your national passport) in order to register for the meeting and receive a grounds pass to enter the UN campus.

If you don?t need to receive a grounds pass (e.g. you already hold an annual UN grounds pass), we ask that you kindly check in with the registration desk so that we may record your attendance.

Registration desk hours are as follows:

Thursday 15 December

2:00 P.M. ? 4:00 P.M.

Friday 16 December

9:00 A.M. ? 1:00 P.M.

Closed in the afternoon.
