The Nigerian Youth Summit on Sustainable Development 2011- tagged SustainNIGERIA; is organized by International Youth Peace Tourism and Development Initiative -iYPTDI a partner of Road2Rio plus 20 a global platform that is charged with mobilizing youth towards Rio+20 in collaboration with other youth organizations/networks in Nigeria. It is intended to bring together over 500 young people who are interested in the environment and sustainable development issues including students between the ages of 15-35 years to kick start discussions on Earth Summit coming up June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro Brazil.

The conference which is intended to produce a National Youth Statement for Nigeria will focus on activities and topics that will be very much tailored to local context/needs and also involve skill trainings in advocacy, campaigning, lobbying, etc . It will ensure that participants can take the outcomes of the summit to the rural communities to carry out sustainable solutions and advocate for them in the months leading up to next year's summit.

The themes of the YSSD-NYRR+20 are:
?Green Economy in the context of poverty eradication and sustainable development
?Role of media for social change
?Rio+20 and Volunteerism
?Role of Nigerian youth in an effort towards sustainable development and the post 2015 development agenda will be key on our agenda for this summit.
