Eusuring Effective Sustainable Development in the South: Will Rio+20 be Up to the Task?

The idea for this side event is to be able to highlight developing country perspectives on sustainable development and, in this context, various issues that are being tackled in the Rio20 conference such as the institutional framework for sustainable development, sustainable development goals and green economy.

Detailed programme

The thematic focus for the side-event will be on ?Ensuring effective sustainable development in the South from the full implementation of the Rio framework from 1992 to the future?.

The potential contribution to the outcome of UNCSD/Rio+20 is to deepen the understanding of developing country perspectives on the UNCSD process and potential outcomes, in order to ensure that the UNCSD outcomes are equitable, fair, and reflect the sustainable development needs and priorities of developing countries.

The potential list of speakers are as follows :

2. The G77 Chair ? Ambassador Mourad Benmehidi of Algeria
3. Selected negotiators from Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean
