Hotels for Press
Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. Mr Sha Zukang addresses D.C. press on Rio+20
The head of next year?s UN world summit on sustainable development in Rio de Janeiro said today that he looked for leadership from the United States to make it a successful conference. Sha Zukang, USG for Economic and Social Affairs and Secretary-General of the 2012 UN conference on sustainable development, said in a speech at the National Press Club in Washington today that he would be asking the US for many contributions.
