Building alliances to promote Green Jobs in the UK
With unemployment at a 17-year high, the Alliance demands that the government promotes low- carbon jobs and addresses gaps in training and green skills to enable this transition.

The Alliance has put together a manifesto calls for the involvement of local authorities, employers, unions, student groups and other civil society organizations to tackle this gap in skills.

It also outlines a set of principles that govern a low-carbon strategy:

-Equality ? ensure access to job opportunities for all

-Fair and decent jobs ? fair wages, decent work conditions, rights to health and safety and trade union recognition

-Coordination and coherence ? long-term approach in training and policies

-Communication and engagement ? promote inclusiveness and training through alliances

-A just transition ? consult workers and communities on opportunities and threats to employment, providing training for the transition to a low-carbon economy.
