11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Athletes Park, UNEP Pavilion

The Eye on Earth Community within the Eye on Earth Summit Declaration: "Acknowledge the critical role of existing thematic and geographic networks and systems for exchange of and access to information, including the role of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and its land, sea, atmosphere and space based Group on Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS), and also the role and activities of the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association (GSDI) in delivering of spatial data platform to facilitate data and service discovery, access and integration."

This will be achieved by linking networks to promote the availability of information at a global to local level and support this by establishing strong institutional arrangements and synergies that currently exist or are planned. This side event will discuss why we need Eye on Global Network of Networks, provide examples of what has been achieved to date for key international platforms and will emphasize the imperative around networks and how technology is no longer a barrier.
