A moderated panel discussion where high level representatives from Bhutan, Rwanda and Uruguay will highlight experiences and achievements towards pro-poor and sound environmental management through integrating these objectives in national development policies and plans.

Participants will get to learn how these countries have been able to combine more inclusive development with sustainable management of natural wealth, through support from the joint UNDP and UNEP Poverty-Environment Initiative (PEI). The Minister for International Development of Norway, on behalf of PEI donors, will comment on their support to, and expectations of, PEI for the future.

Lastly the UNDP Administrator and UNEP Executive Director will reflect on the mainstreaming poverty-environment linkages as a means for delivering on Rio+20 outcomes and renew their commitment to continue the PEI for the period 2013-2017.
