The Next United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development will take place in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, 20 years after the historic summit in 1992. According to organizers, objectives of this conference are: ensure updated political commitments for sustainable development, assess progress towards the internationally agreed goals on sustainable development and highlight the new challenges. The conference will address two over-arching themes: a Green Economy in the context of poverty eradication and sustainable development and an institutional framework that promotes sustainable development.

Content: The course reviews the objectives of sustainable development that have been raised by United Nations since Rio 1992, reflects on today?s challenges and proposes alternatives to development on the way towards Rio+20 Earth Summit, to be held in June 2012.

Público: This course is addressed to every person and organization who is worried and engaged to find an answer to the new challenges and opportunities related to sustainability: people responsible for innovation, human resources, communication, sustainability, strategy and development of marketing, consultants and managers in the private, social and public sectors.
