Over two and a half days, governments, international organizations, the private sector, UN colleagues and civil society and volunteer organizations (CSVOs) will have taken stock of the results of the 2011 International Year of Volunteers + 10 (IYV+10) and will have considered options, as well as opportunities, for promoting volunteerism as an asset in peace and development in light of the ongoing Rio+20 negotiations. This is in partial response to UN GA Resolution 66/67 of 5 December 2011, which requested the Secretary General, in his report to the 67th GA Session, to include ??recommendations to further integrate volunteering in peace and development during the next decade and beyond??

Concluding statements from key civil society and volunteer involving organizations (CSVOs) with external invitees from Member States and UN partners will take place at a session called:

INSPIRATION FOR THE NEXT DECADE: DEFINING THE WAY FORWARD THROUGH STRONG VOLUNTEER COALITIONS
