The Forum was convened by Asian Women?s Network on Gender and Development ( AWNGAD ) , Helena Z. Benitez Global Forum, Philippine Women?s University , and the Philippine Women?s Preparatory Committee for Rio+20 ( NGOs, Local Authorities and GAD Focal Points ). It was attended by attended representatives of regional ( Asia-Pacific ) organizations and women local leaders representing national NGOs , local authorities and gender experts from the Philippines ( Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao ).

The Forum participants came up with the recommendations for the governments and stakeholders on the road to Rio +20 and beyond.

The Forum also celebrated the International Women?s Month, entitled ? Following footprints, continuing the legacy?, as tribute to Dr. Helena Z. Benitez in recognition of her outstanding global leadership in advancing women?s rights and sustainable development in the United Nations.
