Roundtable Discussion on Rights at Risk in the Green Economy
24 Apr 2012 - 24 Apr 2012
6:15 PM - 7:45 PM

Conference Room A, NLB, United Nations Headquarters, New York City

In the previous informal informal negotiations at the UN HQ in New York, over a thousand civil society organizations and movements drew attention to and criticized the attempt of certain member states to delete or bracket references to rights and Rio principles in the outcome document for Rio+20.

But much more needs to be done in terms of actually influencing the outcomes of the UNCSD to promote equity, justice and a transformational agenda that makes a break from the neoliberal tenets that have bred the conditions for the multiple crises confronting the world today.

Participants in this Roundtable will share their analyses of the latest draft of the outcome document for Rio+20, the state of play in the official negotiations, and strategize how to link campaigning efforts outside with lobbying efforts inside and vice versa.

This will be part 1 of the discussion, to be followed by a second session, ?Rights at Risk: Decoding the Green Economy? on April 27, 1:15 to 2:45pm in the same venue.
