Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. Climate Change and Migration Issues in the Sahel with Arrey Ivo
The African Sahel stretches across 17 countries including Mali, Niger, Northern Nigeria, Northern Cameroon, Chad, Sudan (including Darfur) etc. The beautiful Sahel once flourishing with livestock is facing diminishing range lands, drought, famine, hunger and the very harsh fallouts of climate change. Conflicts in certain areas coupled natural pressures on livelihoods have kept people moving from place to place in a very porous and hostile part of Africa. This video discusses climate change and migration issues in the African Sahel.
