Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. GOAL
The goal of the dialogue is to strengthen the relationship between Member States and Business and Industry for Sustainable Development.
BASD 2012
The official United Nations coordinator of the Business and Industry Major Group for Rio+20 is Business Action for Sustainable Development 2012 (BASD 2012). It is a joint initiative of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and 10 international industry association partners. It aims to represent the constructive business voice in the United Nations Rio+20 process, with the ultimate objective of enhancing the conference contribution to sustainable and inclusive markets.
